Mission Statement - A Right to a Positive Future

| FCRS believes that:
- every child has a right to a quality education
- students should be equipped with educational qualifications and have the opportunity to gain vocational skills that may help them gain employment
- refugees and children of refugees should be enabled to attend school, regardless of their status
- teachers should receive adequate remuneration for their work, regardless of the school in which they teach greater understanding of our multicultural, interdependent world is important and enriching for everyone

| | FCRS aims to: advance the education and relieve financial hardship of those refugees and children of refugees from Sierra Leone and Liberia who require schooling and who attend Conakry Refugee School (CRS), Guinea, which is currently not supported by the government of Guinea or any other agency, via
- providing financial support for the school including continuinv to employ professional teachers in order that it can provide educational and vocational training opportunities for all who attend school
- providing some financial support directly to some students who are experiencing severe financial hardship which could prevent them from benefiting from education
- providing support to enable the school to become more self-sustaining and financially secure over a 5 year period
- providing information about issues affecting refugees in Guinea

| | FCRS intends to:
- raise financial support in the UK for Conakry Refugee School through a variety of means (including regular donations, grants, and fundraising) and provide the school with a regular and sustainable monthly funds to meet some of its core expenses in the provision of education
- raise financial support through a student sponsorship scheme for those students experiencing severe financial hardship
- raise funds to support the school in developing its curriculum and providing vocational training courses
- support the school to develop income-generating projects and increased integration with the local Guinean community
- raise awareness about the situation of this group of refugees, and facilitate links between CRS and educational establishments in the UK

| | Over the remaining 4 years of the strategic plan, FCRS will:
- increase the number of volunteer helpers and regular financial supporters, develop and extend fundraising strategies, and build up a financial reserve that can ensure that the school can be provided with sustainable and sufficient funds to meet its core expenses, taking inflation into account
- provide funds for the provision of a mid-day meal to support the health and welfare of students
- sustain the current student sponsorship scheme to the end of the period
- provide set-up funds and other support for the school to foster the development vocational training
- provide set-up funds for income-generating programmes
- incrementally increase support for income-generation projects and decrease financial support for core expenses
- provide speakers to UK organisations and support the setting up of projects and links in UK educational establishments
- monitor the progress of UNHCR self-reliance programmes for this group of refugees who have opted to remain in Guinea. Specifically, the progress towards a wider range of rights and entitlements including access to education and labour markets

- focusing on empowering CRS to enable them to achieve their aims and objectives
- ensuring integrity, transparency and accountability in all financial matters
- promoting a culture of responsibility and teamwork to build an efficient and high quality organisation
